Competency-Based Type-Specific UPRT for any Fleet
UPRT is an opportunity for every airline to standardise its pilots on the life-saving skills of recognition and recovery from hazardous upset conditions. IDT’s training methodology takes the pilot back to basics and assures them of their skills and knowledge, possibly required in a deciding and time-critical moment.
IDT’s training program covers every aspect of this training, including the academic knowledge and skill-based training in the simulator.
Most importantly, the IDT program is a train-to-proficiency approach, where the instructor is taught the skills on how to deliver the correct message, and how to assess the student’s competencies.
All simulator training is type-specific, and lesson plans have been developed for most commercial airlines – FBW, conventional and turboprops.
The integration of knowledge with actual skills closes the loop in UPRT training.
IDT’s qualified UPRT training program consists of a training exercises library. Type-specific lesson plans are available for:
- Awareness & Prevention Exercises
- Maneuvers-Based Recovery Exercises
- Scenario-Based Exercises
In developing and validating the Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes associated with UPRT, the student is systematically exposed to the training elements, rapidly developing the basic understanding that is later applied to recoveries, and finally validated in scenarios. The program is coherent with Competency-Based Training and Assessment and Evidence Based Training
Scenarios become increasingly type-specific, utilising learning elements derived from LOSA and other data sources.
Training and Qualifying Your Instructors
Conduct training at your location and receive our Train-the-Trainer program
- Delivering UPRT accurately to each pilot is critical. IDT provides exhaustive train-the-trainer courses conducted through academics (eLearning/classroom) and practical simulator training.
- Simulator courses can be provided in-person at your desired training location
- Alternatively, these can be provided by means of two-way video link
- Train-the-Trainer Courses:
- IDT directly trains your senior instructors on the proper delivery of UPRT using our type-specific training program:
- How to conduct each exercise
- How to assess the trainee’s knowledge and skills
- How to operate the simulator within its capabilities and limits
- IDT can also validate (audit) your core instructors or simulator instructors when they deliver the training
- IDT directly trains your senior instructors on the proper delivery of UPRT using our type-specific training program:

Compliance With Regulations
Preparing Regulatory Compliance Material and internal documents
- UPRT regulations stipulate what training is to be conducted at various levels within the airline. Navigating through the new regulations, developing an appropriate training program, and preparing all associated compliance materials is the airline’s responsibility.
- IDT has provided start-to-finish support to several airlines and ATO’s, based on hands-on experience in creating these guidelines and rules.
- Our UPRT Program meets compliance while building instructor and pilot competencies.
